Few views in the world rival that of the ancient peaks of the Dolomites and few ski chalets can rival the vista of the iconic mountains quite like this stylish Italian chalet. Reflecting its elevated setting, the villa rises five stories in a perched position above the valley in one of Italy’s most exclusive retreats, Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Although built in 1930, the ski-in, ski-out property has received numerous renovations by local craftsmen over the years. The result is a timeless interior that is at once classic and modern. Parquet floors, coffered ceilings and elaborate millwork showcase the artisan design.
An impressive, two-sided floating fireplace separates an otherwise open living space, lined by wide windows and doors with stunning views of the mountains. Sleek cabinetry and stainless steel countertops make for a contemporary kitchen.
Arguably the most distinguished space in the home, the attic has been converted into an open loft living space. Wood covers the walls and floors, and natural wood beams meet at the top of cathedral ceilings for a rustic design with a chic feel. A stand-alone, copper soaking tub sits next to the attic’s sitting area.
The sprawling chalet encompasses seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, stretching across just over 1,000 square meters (or nearly 11,000 square feet). Highlights include a billiards room, sauna and a terrace.
