Luxury homebuyers are seeking outdoor kitchens and entertaining spaces more than any other amenity. A recent poll of Forbes Global Properties agents found that outdoor lounge space just edged out pools and was much more important than home theaters when considering what a property has to offer.
Here are five properties around the United States and the globe with prime outdoor dining spaces, plus some extra perks.
Dining by Sunset
A property in Santa Barbara, California, allows for al fresco dining with a side of panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands in the distance. The outdoor kitchen of this Mediterranean-style home is outfitted with a wood-burning pizza oven and firepit. Meals and snacks can be enjoyed at the bright blue bar with shade from a red tile roof.
The entertaining space doesn’t end there. The property, with paths that wind through palm and orange trees, also features a large outdoor pool and cabana that comes equipped with a full bar and built-in heaters.
The four-bedroom home also has a well-equipped indoor kitchen with double ovens and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The center island features a breakfast bar and there’s also a separate breakfast nook with views of the ocean from sliding doors. The home is decorated with colorful custom tiles.
The home is on the market for $4.495 million with the Grubb Campbell team at Village Properties.

There’s no reason to leave this stunning modern property on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The 8,244-square-foot home has a contemporary design, featuring geometric accent panels that echo the surrounding landscape. You don’t even have to get out of the pool for lunch or dinner at this property in the Texas Hill Country. The pool features a shaded swim-up bar that is outfitted with a grill and can also be accessed by a bridge for easy and cool outdoor meals. A two-story slide plunges into the water. Nearby is a covered patio and an outdoor fireplace. There is an outdoor veranda on the upper level of the native stone-clad home with views of the surrounding hills.
The nearly 4,400-square-foot three-bedroom, 3 1/2-bathroom home has an open floor plan and 12-foot ceilings on the main level, taking in views from large windows. The primary suite sits on the main floor and features a massive walk-in closet and private office. There is a one-bedroom guest suite with a full kitchen―as well as dining and living rooms―on the lower level.
Located in Spicewood (northwest of Austin), the property is listed for just under $2 million with Jan Moreland of Moreland Properties.
The oceanfront vacation villas on Providenciales, the main island of Turks and Caicos, take in the ocean from all angles. Villa No. 1 is on the market for US $2.8 million. The outdoor area is set up with a pool deck, covered terrace and gazebo dining area and is steps from a white sand beach.
