Originally known as Scranton Manor, this circa 1830 mansion is situated on a picturesque hilltop with commanding views overlooking historic Oxford. It was built by Dr. William Shippen, a physician and delegate of the Continental Congress. Over the decades this iconic mansion has had various uses, more recently as the home of a Grammy-award winning and internationally acclaimed violist/violinist. Today, after an extensive renovation and modernization process, the mansion is home to a legally zoned bed & breakfast with seven guest rooms. Filled with designer details and elegant spaces, the inn caters to wedding parties and also hosts public and private events. Dr. Shippen also constructed Shippen Manor located just below the property, now a county-owned museum.
