Born in New York City and raised in Montclair, NJ, Deborah Ford Larson was educated in the public schools in Montclair and graduated from Tufts University in Medford, MA with a triple major in French, Child Study and Education. She moved to the Northern Virginia area in 1973 and taught elementary school (kindergarten and fourth grade) for four years.
Deborah has specialized since 1975 in selling Northern Virginia homes, land and small commercial properties. She is especially adept in assisting buyers who are relocating from outside the Washington DC metropolitan area and has earned a Relocation Specialist designation. Possessing a passion for historic properties and architecture, Deborah has also briefly studied with and has become a member of National Trust for Historic Preservation. Enjoying architectural tours during national and international travels is one of Debbie’s favorite things to do! Recently, Deborah has obtained NAR’s Resort and Second Home Specialist, (RSS) Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) Designations in order to assist her clientele who may wish to ease into retirement or just have a second residence away from the hustle and bustle or every day life.
Debbie balances her life by playing violin, cello and piano. As an avid music lover, she plays cello with McLean (VA) Symphony and in the summers has played in “pops” concerts with the Annandale (VA) Symphony. In 2010 Debbie enjoyed a musical learning experience was a summer workshop to learn to play Canadian Fiddle in Ottawa, Canada. Debbie has also visited Haiti numerous times to share creative teaching ideas with Haitian elementary school instructors and has recently conducted a pilot program in Ganthiers, Haiti for assisting Haitian high school seniors in properly writing their CV’s (curriculum vitae) and helpful interviewing skills.
Dedicated to her profession, Debbie has taught real estate classes to new, mostly second career agents and has coordinated information seminars and sales meetings in her branch office of Long and Foster Realtors in McLean, VA. Conducting residential “downsizing” seminars to clients has been an additional area of concentration.
