Community is more important than ever these days, and no one brokerage has done more to foster a sense of community in the Tahoe/Truckee region than Tahoe Mountain Realty. The company recently opened a new co-working space at their Hub office located in Northstar Village.
The large office has measures a roomy 2,400 square feet with approximately 750 square feet of that is now devoted to co-working space for anyone passing by.
“From entry to exit, we want people to feel welcomed into this modern co-working space that accommodates the active Truckee lifestyle, with a little work on the side,” shares Jasmine Watts, Tahoe Mountain Realty’s Chief Operating Officer.
The Hub location is the third co-working space opened by the brokerage, which has additional offices in Old Greenwood and Downtown Truckee. With complimentary Wi-Fi and no reservations required, each of the locations are open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Working Remotely Together
A year before the pandemic, Watts began to realize there were more functional uses for TMR’s premium office spaces than the traditional agent behind a desk model of brick-and-mortar real estate. “The changing dynamic of the bay area tech industry fueled remote work, even before the pandemic, allowing for ever greater flexibility for working hours and venues. This was enabling a new wave of families to spend greater amounts of time in the region. Identifying the need in the community, we converted our office at Old Greenwood into a co-working space referred to as the Tahoe Mountain Hub,” she says.
Then, as time passed, more remote workers came to the area and these spaces became a more valuable asset, “TMR values connection, community, and a high level of service. The Hub merges all of these goals. At any of our Hub locations, you’ll be able to use our innovative spaces, interact with local companies, and connect with TMR’s collaborative team of local experts.”
The hub appeals to a variety of people, from local parents who need a spot to work while their children train for the ski team to visitors who may be in town just for the week. The agents also take advantage of the space, opting for the sofas over their private offices.
A Beautifully Designed Space
The co-working space was designed by renowned chef Crista Luedtke, who was crowned as the first-ever Triple G Grand Champion on Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games and is now a judge on the show. She says it was essential to design a space that could be modified for other uses. “With so much uncertainty in any market, it’s important to be nimble and have options with respect to designing spaces. When I design a space for clients, I want to think about all possible uses,” she says. “For example, if they wanted to move away from a coffee bar concept and move towards a wine bar— they would be ready to go. Or if they wanted to move back to a pure office model, they could simply recreate the reception desk in that amazing space.”
In addition to custom pieces, Luedtke sourced the furnishings from a variety of stores including Restoration Hardware and France & Sons. “I like to blend a combo of high-low elements and really work to stretch my client’s budget to make a big impact. I have a few other slick design ideas that we will implement over the coming months to punch it up and keep people excited about the space,” she says.
The designer’s brother, Chet Luedtke of renowned regional firm NXT LVL Construction headed up this incredible project. The full remodel of the office took a total of twelve months from concept to opening the doors—not a long wait considering the supply chain issues and labor shortages that plagued most projects during the pandemic.
Come To Co-Work, Stay For The Coffee
One of the best things about the space is coffee and food on demand, thanks to Zuri Coffee Co, which operates the coffee bar. Ideal for anyone who needs a convenient pick-me-up during intense work sessions, there isn’t a better way to complement the space. “The partnership with Werner and Esther Ospelt of Zuri Coffee Co. as the provider was a natural fit. Its mission is to create a unique place where customers can socialize with each other and enjoy the best-brewed coffee or espresso in a comfortable and relaxing environment. The success of their first Zuri Coffee Co. location, a bistro, and coffee art house located at the Donner Plaza in Truckee, allowed them to accumulate the experience and local following to expand to the Hub at Northstar,” says Watts.
