Malaga Meets Miami In A $7.3 Million Modern Villa Along Spain’s Costa Del Sol

The resort-like home in the Spanish province of Malaga has a distinctly Miami vibe (INMOBILIARIA RIMONTGO).

Just the place name, Costa del Sol, conjures beaches, sunshine and a resort lifestyle. But then, so does Miami.

This contemporary villa in San Pedro de Alcántara, in Spain’s Malaga Province, combines elements of both those worlds.

Surrounded by tropical gardens, the residence’s architecture has a Florida vibe. Walls, floors and ceilings are white. Stepped rooflines and a variety of terrace and balcony spaces add to the geometric style.

The 916 square meters, nearly 10,000 square feet, of light-filled interiors center on an open-plan lounging and dining area. There’s an additional winter dining room, a bar, multiple living rooms and guest or staff rooms.

The west wing houses the kitchen, an indoor covered terrace and a basement-level gym. A bank of windows in the sleek kitchen looks out onto plantings. The center island has bar seating for four as well as a cooktop.

A stylish stairway with transparent railings curves up to the top floor, which contains an office, the primary bedroom and two en-suite bedrooms, all with terraces. The primary suite includes a separate dressing room, a freestanding bathtub and marble finishes. There are a total of six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Several covered porches extend the living area outdoors. The irregular-shaped swimming pool with its curved lines encloses a planter with three mature palms and is fed by a boulder-strewn waterfall.

Wood decking surrounds the pool area and the separate spa. Lawn and plantings line the back wall of the property.

Cristina Martinez of Inmobiliaria Rimontgo is the listing agent for the villa, which is priced at 5.95 million euros or about US $7.3 million.

In addition to beaches and sand, San Pedro de Alcántara has a variety of dining establishments offering such fare as foie gras, lobster, suckling pig and paella. Fresh seafood is abundant.

The Boulevard of San Pedro, with its whimsical undulating bridge, is lined with restaurants, tapas bars and playgrounds.

High ceilings and white-on-white interiors add to the villa's expansive feeling.

It’s a quick hop up the coast, about 13.5 kilometers or less than 9 miles, to the larger hub of Marbella with its flashy resorts, labyrinthine old town, cultural landmarks and golf courses.

Malaga Airport is about 49 kilometers, or 30 miles, from San Pedro de Alcántara, as is Gibraltar International Airport.
