Wendy was born and raised in Kentucky. She is an avid tennis player and golfer (and recently, Pickleball). If she isn’t showing houses, you can find her enjoying her many hobbies with her husband. The active lifestyle that this area offers is what drew her to Vero Beach.
Wendy graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BBA in accounting and went on to become a CPA. She worked as controller for her family’s company for several years before opening her own Outsourced Controllership company providing outsourced accounting services for small to medium businesses that were not large enough to need a full-time controller.
As a newly married couple, she and her husband began investing in rental properties as a way to invest for retirement. “From a financial perspective, I have always seen the benefit of investing in real estate, but it is also just so fun to find that special property that you fall in love with!” she said. For the last 22 years, she has been a real estate investor in long-term and short-term residential rentals, also managing the properties for many of those years.
In January 2021, she and her husband found that special property in Vero Beach. You know how you go to open houses when you are visiting a great city on vacation, but you never buy the property? Well, they bought the property! “We saw an ‘Open House’ sign and debated whether we should turn around.” They are so happy they did!! By December that year, they sold their primary residence in KY and they haven’t looked back!! The first year honestly felt like vacation… Warm and beautiful weather every day, usually playing golf or tennis, and dinner at great restaurants every night! That year she really got to know Vero Beach. She had been visiting the area for years, visiting her parents in nearby Sebastian.
In 2022, Wendy decided to get her real estate license, “it was just a natural progression that hasn’t felt forced, at all! I love people and I love to connect with people. That is a big part of this business. Getting to know people has always been easy for me, I am naturally curious and I find that when you talk to people and ask questions, you find out that you have more in common than you think.” From showing the property to close, Wendy puts her client first.
