Over the last 25 years in the accounting business, Colleen has found three things that bring success for clients — listening, caring, and attention to detail. And those are vital traits no matter what the business, and especially when undertaking one of the most important decisions a family can make — the decision to buy or sell a home. Since graduating from the the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 1990, and moving to the Roanoke Valley with her husband, Brett, in 1994, Colleen has been actively engaged in the business community, having worked for Hollins University, for a local engineering firm, and in the tax preparation business. All the while she has raised two sons, Luke and Will, and enjoyed watching them study in the Roanoke County schools and play basketball and baseball for Hidden Valley High School. Colleens years of working with clients one-on-one on important financial considerations has been satisfying and continues now part-time with the accounting firm of Brown Edwards. Taking the time to listen and work through the details has helped her keep client relationships that have lasted for years. Listening and getting to know the people she has been working with — really know them — has been the most satisfying part of the job and a key to achieving success for them. As far back as a kid growing up in Connecticut, some of Colleens favorite times were spent on a mountain lake in the Adirondacks of New York. So it was a natural fit for her family when they purchased a lakefront property at Smith Mountain Lake several years ago. Like the Adirondacks, this has become one of her favorite places to spend time with family, friends, her dog, Sabre, and (as much as possible) a good book and a sunset view. Colleen has gotten to know the Roanoke Valley and SML. She has gotten to know the things that make this area special. And along the way, she has worked at helping clients through some hard decisions in a caring, compassionate, patient, and detailed way. She is enjoying applying these experiences and her never-afraid-to-ask attitude to helping clients with the challenging and exciting step of buying or selling their homes, no matter what the situation may be — whether you are a first-time buyer, down-sizing, or just looking for a second home at SML. So reach out to Colleen to find out why she can help you or someone you know work through the details. In fact, leave the details to her. If you have real estate needs in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Smith Mountain Lake or surrounding areas call her at 540-204-3417 to find out more.
